I grew up in Missouri and I've played piano since I was a kid. I've always loved to sing and draw. At 19 I started writing music. "No Good " was one of the first songs I ever wrote. The first recording studio I ever played in was The Sttudio in downtown Springfield, Mo. I recorded several rough tracks with Lou Whitney. He was an amazing mentor and friend that I learned a lot from.
I moved to New York City at 20 to pursue music. A whole lot of shit went down though, some good, some bad. I moved back at 23 and went back to college for two seconds. I married Malcolm, my drummer. We have been together for nine years. We met at 20 and lived together in NYC. He was playing with his band at the time.
After getting married and having two beautiful kids I didn't play music for four years. Now I'm putting out an album I'm really proud of and excited about. Some of the songs were written at 20 years old, some at 28. I'm excited to put these out and close the chapter of the past. There are a lot of intense and exciting details I'm leaving out. Some are fun, some are disturbing, others just plain weird.
I'll stay vague, though—what's the fun in giving it all up so easily? Listen to my music to hear my story. My life is written in the notes of every song.
